The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled catcher Konrad Schmidt from Triple-A Reno following the injury to starter Miguel Montero. The Diamondbacks also optioned left-hander Patrick Corbin to Reno.

Young And Old Battery Leads Arizona To Win
From Elias: Patrick Corbin allowed three runs over five and two-thirds innings to earn a victory over Miami in his major-league debut. Corbin had the benefit of experience on his side in the form of his batterymate, 40-year-old Henry Blanco. Over the last 15 years, only one other starting pitcher making his debut was paired with a catcher in his 40s. Travis Blackley of the Mariners defeated the Rangers in his first appearance in the majors (2004); his catcher was Pat Borders. Mark Buehrle (1-4) absorbed the loss for the Marlins against the Diamondbacks on Monday. All of Buehrle's losses this season have come in games that immediately followed a Marlins' defeat. Dating back to last year, Buehrle has lost his last six starts that followed a loss by his team in the previous game, while posting a 6.35 ERA in those starts.
