Fairly typical of 36-year-old players with his power-speed combination, the batting average is declining, the steals are dwindling, but Hunter's power is quietly hanging around. There are ample signs to suggest Hunter will be able to fend off Father Time one more year, so if you are looking for a little reliability, and not so much for upside from a back-end outfielder, you could do worse than Hunter. His contact rate still is a tick better than 78 percent, while his walk rate is teetering near 10 percent. While not fantastic, these are suitable enough to maintain a useful, if not helpful, batting average. As mentioned, Hunter can still hit the ball out of the yard, as his 2011 15.2 percent HR/FB was just an eyelash below his career 15.7 percent mark.
