Dickey Turns Leads Into Victories
After a 2-5 start, R.A. Dickey has posted consecutive wins as the Blue Jays figured out the formula: Give the reigning Cy Young Award winner a decent lead, and he will take it from there. Toronto staked Dickey to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Monday, and despite a few missteps along the way the Jays posted a 7-5 victory over the Rays. Dickey has now won 24 consecutive games in which he was given a two-run cushion, dating back to August 2011. That's by far the longest such streak in the majors, more than double the length of the runner-up, Alexi Ogando (11).

Dickey Makes Early Lead Stand Up
From Elias: The Blue Jays scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning, and with R.A. Dickey on the mound for Toronto you could have turned off the TV at that point. The Jays cruised to a 10-6 win over the Giants. Dickey has won the last 24 games in which he was staked to a lead of four of more runs, and Dickey's teams have a 30-1 record when giving him a four-run cushion.

Dickey Routed Again In Loss To Seattle
From Elias: R.A. Dickey allowed seven runs in the Blue Jays' 8-1 loss to the Mariners. It was the second game this season in which Dickey was tagged for seven or more runs. He did that only twice in three seasons with the Mets.

MLB- Dickey losing knuckleball velocity
What are the issues causing R.A. Dickey to struggle this season? One of them is that Dickey has lost one of the keys to what made him so valuable last season-- the hard knuckleball. Last year, Dickey threw nearly 500 knuckleballs at 80+ MPH (491 by our count). They netted him 179 outs and only 31 hits/walks allowed. Of those outs, 92 were via strikeout. It was a significantly better pitch at netting outs than his sub-80 knuckler. This season, Dickey has thrown a total of 12 knuckleballs with an average speed of 80+ MPH. In other words, he's thrown fewer in seven starts this season than he did in an average start in 2012

MLB - R.A. Dickey Thru 7 Starts
R.A. Dickey got roughed on Saturday in his start vs Seattle. He has struggled thru his first seven starts compared to 2012 but other than ERA his numbers are nearly the same. Interestingly, his run support is down dramatically from last year
