Lester Earns 1-0 Win, Gonzalez Gets Rbi
From Elias: The Red Sox had scored only 12 runs in Jon Lester's first four starts this season and they scored only one on Saturday night in Chicago-but that one was enough for Lester to earn his first victory of the season, a 1-0 squeaker over Jake Peavy and the White Sox. The last Red Sox' pitcher to start and win a 1-0 game in Chicago was Jim Lonborg at old Comiskey Park in 1969. Boston's run was driven in by Adrian Gonzalez in the fourth inning. It was the 657th RBI of Gonzalez's big-league career, but his first in a 1-0 game, knocking Gonzalez out of contention for the record of Most Career RBI, But Never One In A 1-0 Game. That record is held by none other than Alex Rodriguez, who has 1,902 big-league RBI but never one in a 1-0 game. (On the other hand, Ted Williams had nine RBI in 1-0 games, second most in the majors since 1920, when the leagues began recording RBI; Brooks Robinson holds the record with 10 only-run-of-the-game RBI.)
