Reds fans jumped on me a few weeks ago when I called Phillips overrated, and that's fine: Fans should defend their players, especially the good ones, and Phillips is an excellent player and has been since 2007.

Phillips, who ended Saturday's game with a sacrifice fly in the 13th inning, has 18 game-winning RBIs in the seventh inning or later during his major-league career, but this weekend marked the first time he's ever driven in such late-inning game-winners in back-to-back games.
