While his first season with the Mariners was mildly disappointing, as he hit only .259 but did swipe 42 bases, it was Cobb-like compared to last season's .188, 11-stolen base disaster. The numbers support Figgins' contention to a degree, as he has seen fewer pitches and walked fewer times since leaving leadoff, indicating he may be more aggressive, but the more likely culprit is a .215 BABIP. There is some talk of moving Figgins back to the top, followed by Dustin Ackley, Ichiro and Jesus Montero.
