Cabrera Bats In 9th With The Game On The Line
From Elias: What a dramatic ninth inning in the Indians-Tigers game, with Chris Perez facing Miguel Cabrera with Cleveland leading, 7-6, and runners on first and second with two out. Cabrera entered that at-bat batting a major-league-high .532 with runners in scoring position this season (25 hits in 47 at-bats); batting .571 (8 for 14) in such situations with the Tigers tied or trailing by one run; and batting .636 (7 for 11) with runners in scoring position in the seventh inning or later. The result: after falling behind 0-2 and taking the count full, Cabrera bounced out to third, and Cleveland went home with a satisfying win over Justin Verlander, who is now 14-14 in his career against the Tribe.

Cabrera Reached 40 Rbis
From Elias: Prince Fielder hit a solo home run and Miguel Cabrera added a three-run shot in the Tigers' 10-4 triumph over the Indians. For Cabrera, that long ball increased his RBI total for the season to 40, in just Detroit's 33rd game; that matched the fewest team games from the start of a season for any player in Tigers history to accumulate 40 RBIs. In 1937, Hank Greenberg got to 40 RBIs in the Tigers' 33rd game of the season, en route to his team-record season total of 183 RBIs. Fielder and Cabrera each victimized Cleveland pitcher Corey Kluber. It marked the ninth time since they became teammates last season that Fielder and Cabrera had homered off the same pitcher in the same game, tying the highest total in the majors since the start of last season. The pair with whom Fielder and Cabrera are tied won't be adding to their total anytime soon: Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton did that nine times last season with the Rangers.
