Now that he is slated to gain third-base eligibility, Cabrera deserves serious consideration for the top overall pick. The only wart is Cabrera does not run, but the power and batting average buffer he provides affords the ability to bolster steals later. The reigning AL batting champion has improved his contract rate every season since 2007, so he is a threat to contend for that title once again this season. Cabrera's HR/FB rate has remained consistent the past several seasons -- the number of homers he hits depends on his fly ball rate. Last season, he hit a few more grounders than usual, so his homer total was down a tad.
