But, while that normally would paint the picture of a high-risk, high-reward closer, Putz offered a lot to like about his 2011: He limited left-handed hitters to .179/.205/.304 numbers, and averaged 1.86 walks per nine innings, numbers that were right in line with those of his career-best 2007 season. Putz's greatest risk is that he misses enough time while on the DL to afford David Hernandez an opportunity to sneak in and wrest the closer job away; though his $4.5 million salary might make the Diamondbacks more patient.
