For now, Putz will continue to take the ball in the ninth inning while David Hernandez and Bryan Shaw will remain in setup roles.","date":"Thu May 24"},"fullName":"J.J. Putz","seasonOutlook":{"outlook":"Putz's career has been largely hit-or-miss, the \"hits\" and \"misses\" tied entirely to his health. In the past six seasons combined, he has made five trips to the DL, including at least once in each of the past four years, but when healthy, he also has managed a 2.64 ERA and 1.05 WHIP while averaging 56 appearances per year. But, while that normally would paint the picture of a high-risk, high-reward closer, Putz offered a lot to like about his 2011: He limited left-handed hitters to .179/.205/.304 numbers, and averaged 1.86 walks per nine innings, numbers that were right in line with those of his career-best 2007 season. Putz's greatest risk is that he misses enough time while on the DL to afford David Hernandez an opportunity to sneak in and wrest the closer job away; though his $4.5 million salary might make the Diamondbacks more patient. Handcuff the two and you'll be pleased, but even if you go for Putz alone, on a per-game basis, he rivals the best closers in fantasy.","seasonId":2012,"date":"Fri Feb 10"},"playerRater30DAY":-1,"playerRater15DAY":1,"positionRank":73}
