Bautista Ties It In The Ninth, Wins It In The Tenth
Jose Bautista hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning and then ended the game with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning in Toronto's 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay on Wednesday night. Bautista is the first player in Blue Jays' history to hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning and then produce a game-ending hit in extra innings. Over the last 20 years, only three other major-league players have tied a game with a ninth-inning home run and had a game-ending hit an inning later: Kansas City's Raul Ibanez against the Indians on July 21, 2002, the White Sox' Joe Crede against Toronto on August 27, 2002 and Arizona's Lyle Overbay against San Diego on September 10, 2011.
