Throw in an April emergency appendectomy that cost him seven games and a hand injury suffered while taking practice swings in September that cost him another 10, and we're talking the epitome of bad-luck-bruises players. Between injuries, Holliday remained nearly as productive a fantasy slugger as ever, the more compelling question surrounding his 2012 being the absence of Albert Pujols ahead of him in the lineup. In Holliday's defense, offseason addition Carlos Beltran actually had a better on-base percentage than Pujols in 2011 (.385-.366), and during Pujols' 14-game midsummer absence, Holliday averaged 0.64 RBIs per game, compared to 0.60 the rest of the year.
