This Bell Reminds Us Of The Gong Show
From Elias: What has happened to Heath Bell, who walked four batters to suffer his third blown save of the season in the Marlins' 3-2 loss to the Mets? It was Bell's third blown save of the season. Only two other pitchers in major-league history blew three saves during the month of April coming off a pair of 40-save seasons: Dan Quisenberry (1985) and Dennis Eckersley (1993). Over eight previous seasons in the majors, Bell had walked three batters in one game only once. That was during an eight-out relief appearance for the Mets in 2006. Bell issued three walks against the Astros two weeks ago, and then walked four batters against the Mets on Thursday.
