Matt Harvey vs. Joey Votto: Votto wins

Ranking the majors' best hitting combos
OK, let's stir up some arguing and yelling again. Yesterday, I ranked the top five pitching duos. Today, let's do the majors' best hitting duos. Ranking the pitchers was difficult because there were so many excellent pairs to choose.

Fantasy Facts - Shin-Soo Choo is getting on base at the top of the Reds' lineup
Shin-Soo Choo has been getting on-base at a .456 rate, behind only teammate Joey Votto for the league lead. This is a result of Choo's insistence on not swinging at bad pitches, as he's registered a 17.3 chase percentage, second lowest in the league among players that have appeared in at least 40 games. This is a significant increase over Reds leadoff hitters last season, who managed only a .254 on-base percentage.

Choo Cleans Up From The Leadoff Spot
From Elias: Leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo went 4-for-5 with two home runs to help lead Cincinnati to a 4-0 win over the Marlins on Wednesday night. Choo became the first Red with at least four hits and two homers out of the leadoff spot in a game since Mariano Duncan did it against the Expos on August 28, 1991.

MLB - Reds Back-to-Back Tying and Walk-Off
From Elias: Devin Mesoraco (tying) and Shin-Soo Choo (walk-off) hit back-to-back homers with 2 outs in the 9th inning to win Tuesday night's game for the Reds vs the Braves. This is the just the 2nd time in the last 30 years that teammates have hit 2-out, back-to-back game-tying and walk-off homers. The other instance was on June 1, 2004 when the Braves Nick Green hit a game-tying homer and J.D. Drew hit the walk-off homer. The last time the Reds did it was August 27, 1977 when Dan Driessen tied a game and Johnny Bench hit a walk-off homer against the Phillies.
