Combine this with a walk rate greater than 10 percent and a line-drive rate that is always among the league leaders, and it is pretty easy to see why Pedroia is one of the most consistent and reliable players in the league, with second-base eligibility to boot. Any time a player has a career year, it is safest to anticipate a little give-back, but even so, Pedroia is more than capable of tacking on a consecutive 20/20 season.
