Things didn't pan out as well for Billingsley as Kershaw; the lack of an elite \"out\" pitch to use versus left-handers, who have a career OPS 97 points higher against him than right-handers, and a rapidly declining strikeout rate paint the picture of an adequate big league starter, albeit one in the middle or back end of a rotation. Billingsley posted personal worsts -- among complete seasons -- in strikeouts per nine (7.28), walks per nine (4.02), hits allowed (189) and WHIP (1.45), and it's troubling that his fastball gets more hittable by the year, while his cutter hasn't panned out as a viable weapon against lefties.
