The line-drive machine continues to hold up that end of the deal, but Kendrick has not seen the gains in contact rate some expected, nor has he developed the level of power anticipated -- and remember, home runs are hits, too. Speaking of home runs, last season Kendrick did see a spike in power resulting from a career-high 16.5 percent HR/FB, which is well above average, especially for a middle infielder, but since he is an extreme line-drive/ground-ball hitter, he still knocked only 18 out of the yard. It remains to be seen if the additional power is sustained, but either way, Kendrick still profiles as a guy who will hit for a very good average and chip in with double-digit homers and steals -- a very useful player if you do not expect anything more.","seasonId":2012,"date":"Fri Feb 10"},"playerRater30DAY":1.3,"playerRater15DAY":-1.7,"positionRank":13}
