Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has been scratched from Detroit's lineup for Game 3 against Texas, manager Jim Leyland announced Tuesday.

Andy Dirks will replace Young.

Leyland said he does not know what Young's availability will be for the rest of the AL Championship Series.

Detroit had initially left Young off its ALCS roster because of what was then described as a left oblique injury that he aggravated in the AL division series against the New York Yankees. Further tests showed that might not be the real issue.

Young returned to play in Game 2 of the ALCS on Monday after Magglio Ordonez re-fractured his right ankle. Young was listed in Tuesday's lineup, as well, but Tigers manager Jim Leyland said during a pregame news conference that Young was hurting too much to play.

The Rangers also adjusted their lineup for Tuesday night, shifting Michael Young to first base, Mike Napoli to designated hitter, Yorvit Torrealba to catcher and Endy Chavez to left field.

Mitch Moreland, who has started at first base in all but Game 1 of the AL Division Series, will be off the bench. He is 2 for 17 in the playoffs and 1 for 7 with three strikeouts in the ALCS.
