St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia was sent for an MRI Monday after being pulled from his start against Washington after just two innings with what manager Mike Matheny said was an arm issue.

"Jaime's arm wasn't feeling right at the time," Matheny said after the Cardinals won 12-4 to even the NL Division Series at one game apiece. "He's out right now getting an MRI, getting it looked at. Don't have the results, but we'll be able to comment on that, make a statement tomorrow."

Garcia missed more than two months this season with a strained shoulder.

"It just wasn't right the whole time. I had to come out of the game," Garcia said. "I don't know how it happened, I don't know when it happened.

"I'm just hoping it's not too bad, but at the same time you've just got to wait and see how it goes."

Cardinals 18-game winner Lance Lynn replaced Garcia, striking out five in a three-inning stint marred by yielding consecutive homers to Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche in the fifth inning.

"I was ready from the get-go in case anything happened," he said. "Something I was able to do at times this year, able to be down in the bullpen a little bit, and I was able to use that experience."
