After winning the World Series in 2005 -- their first championship since 1917 -- the White Sox got slapped back to reality last season and failed to make the playoffs.
Pitching was Chicago's Achilles' heel in 2006, and the Sox will only go as far as their arms take them this year. Jose Contreras, Mark Buehrle, Jon Garland and Javier Vazquez all return, while rookie John Danks replaces Freddy Garcia as the only new face in the rotation.
The biggest addition to the lineup is Darin Erstad, who takes over in center field. The gritty gamer plays to win every day and is hungry after missing most of last season with an ankle injury. He has something to prove -- just like the South Siders.
Do the White Sox have what it takes to win the tough AL Central, or will they be watching the playoffs on television again? Let us know what you think.
