NEW YORK (AP) -- About the only task the New York Mets didn't accomplish was what should have been the easiest of all: hitting Roger Clemens with a pitch.

With all the hype surrounding Piazza vs. Clemens, one factor might have been overlooked: Clemens hasn't been successful vs. the Mets over his career:

Game notes
No Mets pitcher had homered since Bobby Jones did it April 12, 1999, against Florida. Estes' most recent homer was against Montreal, a grand slam on May 24, 2000. ... Clemens is 3-for-18 as a batter in his career and got his first hit since doubling at Shea Stadium on Sept. 2, 1997. ... Estes tied his career high with 11 strikeouts.
