PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Mike Cameron's leg feels fine, and his swing
is doing even better.
"Right now we're swinging the bats well," said Cameron, who
played his second game after missing five straight with a sore left
knee and groin. "Guys are starting to put it together."
The surprising Mets are just one game behind the NL East-leading
Phillies with four games remaining before the All-Star break.
"It's where we want to be," Mets manager Art Howe said of
trying to get to first place after consecutive last-place finishes.
"Whatever it is, it's contagious," Howe said. "Everyone is

Pat Burrell homered for the Phillies, who have scored two runs
in the past two games against New York. The Mets have won two of
three so far in a four-game series that ends Thursday night.
"Collectively, we haven't gotten it done with the rotation,"
Phillies manager Larry Bowa said.
Trachsel (9-6) allowed one run and five hits to win for the
fourth time in five starts. He struck out three and walked two,
improving to 2-4 on the road.
"I'm getting a lot of runs and the defense has been great,"
said Trachsel, who came in with an ERA of 7.88 away from home.
After the start was delayed 1:34 by rain, the Mets took a 3-0
lead against Brett Myers (5-6) in the second inning on solo homers
by Floyd, Wigginton and Cameron.
Floyd led off the inning with a shot into the right-field seats.
One out later, Wigginton hit one out to left. With two outs,
Cameron hit an opposite-field drive into the right-center stands.
Cameron's two-run shot off Geoff Geary in the fifth made it
10-0, giving him nine career multihomer games. It was his first
with the Mets.
Myers allowed six runs and nine hits in 3 1-3 innings. A 14-game
winner in his first full season as a starter last year, the
right-hander has one win in his last six starts. His ERA has risen
from 4.14 to 5.28 in his last four outings.
