ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Toby Hall helped the Tampa Bay Devil Rays avoid a total loss.

Hall's two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning snapped a tie and helped the Devil Rays gain a split of a doubleheader with the Detroit Tigers, 6-4.

Coming off a 8-0 loss in the opener, the Devil Rays squandered a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth when Omar Infante and Craig Monroe delivered run-scoring singles to give the Tigers the lead.

But the Devil Rays rallied in the bottom of the inning. Geoff Blum's one-out single off Craig Dingman (2-2) tied the game.

After Jamie Walker retired Carl Crawford, Hall produced the go-ahead hit. Rookie Jorge Cantu went 4-for-4 with three RBI and Jose Cruz Jr. had three hits and knocked in three runs for the Devil Rays.

Travis Harper (6-2) got the win despite allowing two runs in the top of the eighth. Danys Baez worked the ninth for his 30th save.

Carlos Pena hit a solo homer for the Tigers.
