CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- One of the hottest teams in baseball, the
Cleveland Indians hope to move to the top of the American League
wild card standings Tuesday when they continue their series
against the Detroit Tigers.

The Indians have won 20 of their last 27 games and are one game
behind the New York Yankees for the wild card lead. Cleveland
also has moved within seven games of the first-place Chicago
White Sox in the AL Central Division after trailing by 15 1/2
games at the end of July.

Cliff Lee (14-4, 3.93 ERA) seeks his sixth straight winning
decision for the Indians. The lefthander gave up four runs -
three earned - in six innings of a 12-4 win at Tampa Bay on
Thursday.

Detroit counters with lefthander Mike Maroth (11-12, 4.98), who
was pounded for a season-high eight runs in just 3 2/3 innings
of a loss to Oakland on Thursday.

Cleveland has won eight of the 13 meetings against Detroit this
season, including Monday's 10-8 triumph despite facing an early
five-run deficit.
