MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Florida Marlins gave the Colorado Rockies
every opportunity they needed to continue their success away
from Coors Field.

Garrett Atkins and Matt Holliday had three hits apiece and the
Rockies took advantage of some shoddy defense from the Marlins
to post an 8-7 victory.

Atkins hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Colorado,
which survived another shaky performance from closer Brian
Fuentes in the ninth inning to improve to 9-3 on the road.

With the score tied at 5-5, Cory Sullivan led off the sixth with
a double off Marlins reliever Randy Messenger (0-1). Clint
Barmes attempted a sacrifice, but Messenger threw wildly to
third base, allowing Sullivan to score.

Barmes scored three batters later and Sullivan added an RBI
double in the seventh for an 8-5 lead before the Marlins staged
a late rally.

Josh Willingham hit a two-run homer off Miguel Asencio (1-0) in
the seventh to cut the deficit to 8-7 and Florida loaded the
bases with one out in the ninth against Fuentes, who blew a
one-run lead Friday before Colorado won it in extra innings.

However, Fuentes got Chris Aguila to pop out to second base and
struck out Reggie Abercrombie for his fifth save in six chances.

The Marlins committed four errors overall, leading to three
unearned runs.
