CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Kelvin Escobar is long overdue for some
positive results against the Chicago White Sox.

Escobar tries to win his first career start against the White
Sox on Thursday as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim look for
their fourth victory in 14 games when the teams conclude a
three-game series.

A 30-year-old righthander, Escobar (4-2, 2.78 ERA) is 0-7 with a
5.64 ERA in nine starts and has one relief victory in 18
appearances against Chicago. He took the loss April 29 despite
giving up one run and three hits to the White Sox in five
innings.

Jon Garland (2-1, 6.05) has not fared much better against the
Angels, with a 2-6 mark and a 5.07 ERA. He did not get a
decision in his last meeting against them April 30 after
yielding five runs and five hits in seven innings.

Juan Rivera and Garret Anderson collected three RBI apiece for
the Angels, who scored six runs in the ninth inning of their
highest scoring game of the season, a 12-5 triumph over the
White Sox.

Chicago has won four of the first five encounters against the
Angels this season and has the American League's best record.
