SAN FRANCISCO (ESPN.com news services) -- A humbled Brett Myers returned to a comfortable place yesterday. It took him some real thinking to get there.
Barry Bonds homered in a losing effort against the Phillies, but his sixth-inning home run gave the Giants their second (and last) lead of the game. Bonds homered on a 3-2 offering from Brett Myers; it was his fourth home run on a full count this season. Although he ranks 64th in the majors with 13 home runs this year, only three players have more full-count homers than Bonds: Jason Giambi (nine), David Ortiz (six) and Andruw Jones (five).

The Giants sent slumping 1B Lance Niekro to Triple-A Fresno before the game. San Francisco recalled 1B Chad Santos, who made his major league debut in a double-switch in the eighth -- and Santos got his first career hit moments later. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
