Hamels' hot hand pushes Phils past Brewers, up wild-card standings
PHILADELPHIA -- Cole Hamels pitched 6 1/3 sharp innings, Jimmy Rollins homered and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3 Saturday to move within two games of the NL wild-card leaders.
Braun Hits Another Bomb
Ryan Braun hit his 35th home run of the season in the loss to the Phillies. He is the first Brewers outfielder to hit 35 homers in a season since Jeromy Burnitz in 1998. He also has 69 homers in his first two seasons, which compares favorably in history. Here's a look:
| Player | Homers |
| Joe DiMaggio | 75 |
| Ralph Kiner | 74 |
| Eddie Mathews | 72 |
| Albert Pujols | 71 |
| Ryan Braun | 69 |
Game notes
Brewers hitting coach Jim Skaalen was ejected in the fourth for arguing that a pitch hit Prince Fielder instead of his bat. ... Parra is 2-6 since the All-Star break. ... A crowd of 45,105 was the 46th sellout at Citizens Bank Park this year. ... Hamels leads the NL in innings pitched (214 1/3).
