NEW YORK -- As far as Eric Hosmer knows, this is all the Royals do when they visit the Yankees.
The promising rookie who was called up less than a week ago homered to kick off Kansas City's big second inning and the Royals beat New York 11-5 on Thursday night for their first series win in the Bronx since 1999."It's been a real good three days," Hosmer said. "We came to New York and took two out of three from the Yankees. We're winning ballgames and you'll keep seeing the smile on my face when we keep winning."Melky Cabrera homered too, and Billy Butler had four hits.More From ESPNNewYork.com
With the Red Sox headed to the Bronx, the Yankees don't look ready after getting blown out by the Royals on Thursday, Johnette Howard writes.

Research Notes
The Yankees lost a game in which they didn't strike out.
This is unusual.
The Yankees have had 3 such losses (without striking out) in the last 25 seasons (ie: starting in 1987). The most recent was a 7-1 loss to the Tigers on June 19, 2001.
It's the 2nd time this season that a team lost a game in which it didn't strike out-- the White Sox lost to the Rays on April 8.
Since 2000, teams that don't strike out in a game are 100-49. |
