BOSTON -- New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi found little to get excited about after Mark Teixeira's solo homer in the sixth inning.
After all, the Yankees still trailed by eight runs."You're down 9-0 and Tex hits what looks like an innocent home run. Then we come back with back-to-back seven-run innings," Girardi said after New York rallied to beat Boston 15-9. "I don't think I've ever been a part of that."Nick Swisher hit a grand slam in the seventh to help the Yankees erase a 9-0 deficit, then added a two-run double in the eighth to give them the lead. The comeback matched the franchise's largest deficit overcome in a win, done five times.Teixeira had six RBIs, homering from both sides of the plate for the 13th time in his career.More Yankees-Red Sox Coverage

From Elias: According to Elias, the last time a team scored 7 runs in consecutive innings in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry was on June 19, 2000 when the Yankees scored 9 in the 8th and then 7 in the 9th in a 22-1 win.
The hit by David Ortiz vs Freddy Garcia is interesting, given the batter-pitcher dynamic of the matchup.
Ortiz was 5-for-10 against Garcia last season, including 4-for-his-first-4. But Garcia got him out 5 of the last 6 times they faced each other.
Garcia's success came when he went to approach in which he almost entirely pitched Ortiz away.
In those last 6 AB, He threw him 23 pitches, 17 of which were on the outer-third or further away.
So it's fair to say Ortiz was expecting something outside...
And Ortiz has been having success against outside pitches this season.
He entered the AB 8-for-18 on at-bats ending in pitches on the outer-third or further away, this season.
The AB ended in an outside pitch, and Ortiz got an RBI single.
