DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies played long ball late in rallying to tie it twice. The New York Mets managed to prevail because of a hard grounder by Ike Davis that happened to find the hole between third and shortstop.
Davis singled in the go-ahead run off reliever Matt Belisle in the 11th inning and the Mets overcame two tying homers allowed by their bullpen to beat the Rockies 6-5 on Sunday."It was tough to see. The shadows were pretty bad at that point and the first fastball, he just blew it by me," Davis said. "I was like, 'Oh boy, got to shorten up a little bit.' I put it on the ground and I knew it had a good chance if it didn't hit anybody. It happened to find a hole."Mets blog

Research Notes
From Elias: Johan Santana has now thrown 22 innings against the Rockies without allowing a run.
That's the most consecutive scoreless innings thrown by a pitcher against the Rockies from the start of his career. It surpasses the mark of 18 1/3 set by John Grabow from 2004 to 2009. | ||||||||||||
Entering Sunday's game in Colorado, Mets hitters had managed just 7 hits and *ZERO* runs in 18 innings with Johan Santana pitching.
Against the Rockies, they scored 3 runs in the 1st inning as Santana stretched his scoreless inning streak against the Rockies to 22 innings before the bullpen cost Santana his 1st win of the season. [+]Finally Some Support - Mets with Santana in Game This Season
