Game notes
Texas LHP Matt Harrison, the team's opening day starter before two operations on a herniated disk in his lower back, left a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Round Rock with numbness in his throwing hand. Harrison is returning to Arlington to visit a doctor about the problem and Washington said he didn't have a report on his condition yet. Washington wasn't sure how to respond to the setback. "I don't know," he said. "Many things have happened to us this year, and it's another one we have to get past."... Houston LHP Travis Blackley, who was designated for assignment on Thursday, has been outrighted to Triple A Oklahoma City. He has three days to accept the assignment or become a free agent. ... Houston SS Jonathan Villar was out of the lineup for a third straight game with a sprained left thumb. He pinch-ran in the eighth inning. ... The series continues on Sunday when Texas left-hander Martin Perez opposes Dallas Keuchel.

Research Notes
Yesterday marked just the 2nd career game of 3+ H and 2+ RBI for Jose Altuve (both occurred this season; had 4 H and 4 RBI on April 9 vs Mariners). |
Derek Holland has averaged 93.4 mph with his fastball, the fastest mark among left-handed starters in the league. Astros batters are hitting .218 in at-bats ending with a pitch of at least 93 mph, the second-worst rate in MLB. |
The Astros scored 5 runs last night, but 5 runs hasn't been enough for Houston to win games this season.
The Astros are 22-18 when scoring 5 or more runs this season; their 18 losses are the most by any team. |
