Matt Harvey will not be speaking after his start tonight, a Mets spokesman announced. Terry Collins certainly sounded inclined to have Harvey not make his next start.

Terry Collins said he will convene with Sandy Alderson about the next step with Matt Harvey and whether he should make his next scheduled start.

Apparently, the ball really does carry further in warm weather. On the balmiest day of the year at Nats Park by far (83 at game time), Washington tied a season-high with five bombs - including one by Ben Revere, just the fifth of his career - en route to a 7-4 win over the Mets.

A gem from Justin Verlander propels Tigers to a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Team has now won eight of nine. Back over .500 at 23-22. Closer Francisco Rodriguez closes out the game in the ninth to record his 400th career save. 6th MLB pitcher to reach this milestone.

Another double-digit strikeout performance for Tigers ace Justin Verlander, who ended the eighth with a strikeout of Odubel Herrera. Third time this season. 32nd of his career. Eight scoreless innings. Reached back to hit 97 mph to fan Herrera and was rewarded with a deserved ovation as he headed to the dugout.

43-pitch inning for Chris Sale in the third. Four. Three. Not a typo.

Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez left tonight's game with a contusion of the right big toe after being hit by a Jorge De La Rosa pitch. X-rays were negative.

Two-out walk to Jose Ramirez bites Chris Sale as the Indians go up 2-1 after Mike Napoli's triple; Ramirez worked Sale for 10 pitches, getting three balls on sliders. Great AB with big repercussions.

Yankees fans understandably are starting to get restless with Mark Teixeira. Teixeira entered Tuesday with a .193 average, three homers and 12 RBIs. Teixeira is 0-for- 3 with three strikeouts. He has now struck out 47 times in 150 at-bats. Teixeira said the other day he is the type of guy who can carry a team. Right now, he is dragging the Yankees down. The fans are beginning to boo.

Nathan Eovaldi may have been in the middle of a shutout, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi is going to his Big 3 relievers every chance he gets. So with Eovaldi having thrown 100 pitches, Girardi has taken the ball from Eovaldi and handed it to Dellin Betances, who presumably will pass it to Andrew Miller and then Aroldis Chapman. The Yankees lead the Blue Jays, 2-0, with one out in the seventh.

Stephen Strasburg has 10 K's through six innings against the Mets. It's his fifth double-digit whiff game this season, and the 26th of his career.

Jayson Stark ESPN Senior Writer

Julio Teheran did the mathematically impossible tonight: 7 K's over 2 innings. The Elias Sports Bureau says he's the first to do it since Alex Cobb on 5/10/13

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Hard to say whether it's the warm weather or Matt Harvey that's making the ball travel further, but the Nats have three bombs in five innings, including a Daniel Murphy three-run shot that landed well into the second deck. Washington leads 5-1 after five.

Diaz's impressive backward catch

Cardinals shortstop Aledmys Díaz makes a nice one-handed backwards catch to start the double play in the top of the second inning against the Cubs. (Live on ESPN, WatchESPN)
