Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has been emphatic about his reluctance to go to closer Francisco Rodriguez in a 4-out save situation. Made it clear he didn't want to do it again after June 1 game in Anaheim. He did on Monday night, bringing in K-Rod with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth. That decision paid off. 4-2 final as Tigers take first game vs. Red Sox at Fenway

Jeremy Hellickson's trade value continues to go up as he pitched six scoreless innings tonight against the Marlins. He only had one strikeout, but he does have a career-best K rate to go with a 3.65 ERA. He looks like a viable back-end rotation option -- in fact, maybe for the Marlins.

With their 3-2 extra-innings win over the Rockies, the Orioles have now ripped off five straight victories. It's the fifth time this season they've won at least five in a row. If Detroit holds on to beat Boston, the O's will have a two-game lead in the AL East.

Tigers catcher James McCann entered tonight's game batting .194. He delivered with a critical at-bat in the seventh inning. Hit an RBI single to score Justin Upton that extended Tigers lead 3-1. Shane Greene in to replace starter Justin Verlander, who held the Red Sox to 1 run over the first six innings.

Jose Iglesias smashes two-run homer

The Tigers shortstop boomed a home run deep to left field in the top of the sixth to put Detroit up 2-1 over Boston on ESPN.

The Blue Jays are facing a tough decision with Aaron Sanchez. In the wild-card era, only Felix Hernandez has had a lower ERA among qualified AL starters age 23 or younger. But with another strong outing so far tonight, he's about to hit his career high in innings. Do they move him to the bullpen to save innings? But can they win the division without him starting? I'd keep him in the rotation and hope for the best.

Despite the two E's, Nolan ArenADO has at least tied up the ADO Bowl by hitting a solo shot to knot the game. Manny MachADO is 1-for-2 and hasn't had a fielding chance yet.
