Carlos Beltrán on the cancellation of the games in Puerto Rico: "This is something that will affect Puerto Rico. People were really looking forward to the series and to have the opportunity to attend Major League Baseball games in Puerto Rico. We all know that Puerto Rico is going through a very difficult time and this is basically just another low blow for the island. I don't what is the rate of people infected with the virus in Puerto Rico, compared with Florida, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and other places where the Zika virus has been found. But at the end of the day, MLB and the people who have made this decision must have their reasons."

Joe Girardi said CC Sabathia's groin pull, in his left (push off) leg, was diagnosed as a Grade 1, which normally means at least a three-week absence. "I think you would feel pretty fortunate if you could get him then," Girardi said. Ivan Nova will take over Sabathia's rotation spot beginning Monday night against the KC Royals.

The Mariners are in Houston for four-game series. They travel to state of Texas each month of season. Why does MLB always make Seattle and Oakland fly six separate trips there? They can't combine any?

A brief history of baseball farewells

Todd Helton got a horse. Derek Jeter was feted everywhere. Chipper Jones still uses the grill he got from the Brewers. Now it's Red Sox DH David Ortiz's turn to experience the love. Going, going, gone
