Gleyber Torres is a 19-year-old shortstop in the Cubs' system. He is hitting .275 with 9 homers and 47 RBIs at Single-A. He has a .791 OPS. Colleague Buster Olney reported the Yankees are high on him, making him a possible target in an Aroldis Chapman trade. If the Yankees were to make a deal for Torres, it would demonstrate their commitment to adding overall talent to the organization instead of just looking for certain positions since shortstop is a franchise strength led by Didi Gregorius.

Expectation is the White Sox aren't prepared to accept anything less than a massive package for a 27-year-old ace with one of most team-friendly long-term contracts, regardless of his disagreements with the team.

Known for their offense in July, the Dodgers showed more of it with Adrian Gonzalez's first-inning grand slam. The Dodgers entered play Sunday leading the NL in hits (183), doubles (42) and on-base percentage (.348) this month.

Word out of Myrtle Beach is that Gleyber Torres was scratched about 20 minutes before first pitch due to a "headache" but there's no actual confirmation on that being the actual reason he wasn't in the lineup. He was in the dugout for most of the game. Cubs farm director Jaron Madison is there as rumors swirl about a trade going down involving Torres.
