Late lineup update for the Red Sox: Hanley Ramirez is out with flu-like symptoms. Josh Rutledge will start at third, with Travis Shaw moving to first base.

The night began as a promising one for Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez, who looked sharp through the first three innings. However, his outing really devolved in the fourth, when the Indians carved out a 4-nothing lead. Perhaps the most difficult pitcher to figure out in DET's rotation. Looks great when he's locked in, but so erratic that it's anyone's guess on a given night which way it's going to go.

Joe Maddon will make out two lineups for Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals as he awaits word on Jason Heyward's sore wrist. Heyward took some swings on Wednesday in the cage but missed his third straight game. Maddon is hopeful he'll be avail on Thursday night,

Looking at Accuweather, it's going to be frosty at the Cell, with strong winds to right field making the temperatures feel more like the 30s than the 40s. Hard stuff from Carlos Rodon and Clay Buchholz in tonight's White Sox-Red Sox game will definitely sting on contact with the bat.

Wilbon: Cubs can get 110-118 wins

Michael Wilbon thinks the Cubs could break the regular-season wins record (116) -- provided the team stays healthy.

There's more to earning $161 million than just hitting bombs. Orioles slugger Chris Davis has more "good fielding plays" so far this season than any first baseman in baseball (19). And since the start of 2014, his 13 defensive runs saved is tops among AL 1B's.

As far as glowing endorsements go, this wasn't one of them. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was asked about the possibility of calling up Nick Swisher to replace Alex Rodriguez. Of Swisher, Girardi said, "He is doing OK." Swisher is hitting .306 with an .801 OPS for Triple-A Scranton. There is a question if he can still run well enough to play the outfield. He could possibly play once a week at first base and DH, but at this moment Girardi doesn't seem that interested. The Yankees called up reliever James Pazos because they are in the midst of playing 20 games in a row. A-Rod doesn't play the field so he didn't really need to be replaced externally.
