Josh Hamilton on Adrian Beltre's reluctance to leave game despite a back so painful he had to wipe away tears: "That says a lot about him and what kind of player he is, what kind of man he is. As soon as Eskie swings at the first pitch, you hear our dugout go, 'We're winning today.'"

Astros plate 2 runs in the first

Houston loaded the bases with no outs off Royals RHP Yordano Ventura, and RBI groundouts from Colby Rasmus and Evan Gattis put them up 2-0 before the Royals even came to the plate. This is the first start where Ventura has allowed multiple runs in the first inning since June 6. Follow live

Rangers GM Jon Daniels said Adrian Beltre has a lower back strain and is day to day. He said the MRI showed nothing major. Texas is flying in players just in case the back worsens. If they need to replace him, Beltre would not be eligible to play again until the World Series "The news would have to worse than it is now for us to consider that."
