Zim's HR, Scherzer's arm get Nats win

Ryan Zimmerman accounted for the game's only run with his first HR since May 19, and Max Scherzer turned in seven shutout innings as the Nationals beat Miami 1-0.


Familia's blown save ties MLB lead

Jeurys Familia's implosion in the ninth inning was his fifth blown save of the season, tying three other relievers for the most in MLB. The Mets-Padres game is delayed in the bottom of the 9th with San Diego up 8-7.


When it rains it pours

Jeurys Familia recorded the first two outs of the ninth with New York leading the Padres 7-5 when the game was delayed. Play resumed 45 minutes later, two Padres reached and Justin Upton hit a go-ahead 3-run shot. Now it's delayed again.

Padres complete comeback on Mets

New York led 7-1 after six, but a grand slam by Derek Norris in the seventh and a three-run shot by Justin Upton off closer Jeurys Familia put San Diego ahead 8-7. Then the the tarp went back on the field in the 9th. Follow live

Mets-Padres delayed ... with 1 out left

New York had a shot at its fourth win in five games before the rain came. Today's game was delayed with the Mets up 7-5, two outs and Derek Norris at the plate.

Price trade excites Jose Bautista

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos received a text from the Toronto slugger asking if the David Price news was true. When Anthopoulos confirmed, Bautista responded: "Yes!!!!!!!!!!"

Papelbon gets first Nationals save

Newly-acquired closer Jonathan Papelbon worked a 1-2-3 ninth today vs. the Marlins, to notch his 18th save of the season, but first with Washington. Former closer Drew Storen worked the eighth inning.

Dodgers-Marlins-Braves trade complete

The three-way trade, according to ESPN's Jim Bowden and multiple reports, is headlined by the Dodgers acquiring SP Alex Wood (via Atlanta), SP Mat Latos and OF Michael Morse (both via Miami); the Braves receiving Cuban INF prospect Hector Olivera (via L.A.); and the Marlins getting 3 prospects.
