Cubs GM Theo Epstein on both Chicago teams having MLB's best records: "Chicago fans more than deserve for both teams to be doing well. Not that we spend a lot of time rooting for them, but I'm glad they're doing well."

Gregory Polanco on the best advice he's gotten from fellow Dominican outfielder Starling Marte: "To have fun and never forget this is a game. Don't focus on the results, just have a good time and your talent will shine through."

The Cubs are averaging six runs per game and a big reason why is they're drawing a lot of walks. They've walked in 13.5 percent of their plate appearances, something only 10 qualified hitters accomplished in 2015. The Cubs, however, don't lead the majors in OBP. That's their opponent tonight, the Pirates, who lead .375 to .359.

Bad news for the Baltimore Orioles: Shortstop J.J. Hardy is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a hairline fracture of his left foot, and is expected to miss about six weeks. The three-time Gold Glover is one of only four major-league shortstops without an error so far this season. The O's are expected to recall utility man Ryan Flaherty from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Hardy's roster spot. Manny Machado will likely slide over to shortstop with Flaherty getting the majority of the action at third base

Randal Grichuk, mired in an 0-for-20 slump that has put his batting average at .179, was out of Monday night's lineup vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cardinals have a bit of a conundrum with Grichuk, who they were hoping would become their everyday center fielder this season. He is struggling with pitch recognition and the only way to fix that is to see live pitching. On the other hand, they need production and players like Jeremy Hazelbaker and Brandon Moss have provided more. If he keeps struggling, the question might arise whether he needs to be sent to Triple-A Memphis to work on recognizing breaking balls. Mike Matheny talks about Grichuk's struggles:
