The Cardinals badly needed some semblance of order in their starting rotation and Mike Leake and Jaime Garcia gave it to them on back to back nights in Washington. Garcia talks about the adjustment he made from his previous start, one of the worst of his career and the lack of intent when he threw two pitches up around the heads of Washington batters, causing umpire Alan Porter to warn the benches:

Bogaerts pushes hit streak to 20 games

Jackie Bradley Jr.'s hit streak might have come to an end at 29 games, but teammate Xander Bogaerts continues his run making it 20 straight games with a single in the fourth inning.
