What a hairy good time

The Bowie Baysox, the Orioles' Double-A affiliate, held a "Back Hair Appreciation Night" on Thursday. Featured? A free waxing station, a Hairy Wall of Fame and free admission if a number was shaved into your back. Good times. 'Ohhh, Kelly Clarkson'?

Houston Astros @astros

#Astros have activated OF Carlos Gomez (#30) for tonight’s game and will activate RHP Mike Fiers (#54) prior to tomorrow’s game.

Jay Bruce not in Reds lineup

Bruce's omission is intriguing because he's been the center of trade rumors. Jason Bourgeois fills in for the Reds, who play the Pirates at 7:10 p.m. ET.

With hour remaining, Padres are quiet

Enticing trade pieces such as Justin Upton, Craig Kimbrel and James Shields have made San Diego the favorite to be the most active team today. Nothing so far, though, as the 4 p.m. ET deadline nears.

The Blue Jays' busy trade deadline

Toronto has traded for the four players below... and an hour still remains.

  • SS Troy Tulowitzki

Report: Ben Revere traded to Toronto

With Revere being dealt to the Blue Jays (per MLB's Phillies reporter), Toronto's powerful offense fills its only void: a true leadoff hitter. Revere, the Phillies' leadoff hitter, has hit .298 with 24 steals in 2015.

Twins land reliever Jepsen from Rays

Minnesota (53-48) finally made its presence felt at the trade deadline by acquiring Kevin Jepsen for two minor league pitchers. Jepsen's last two seasons: 106.2 innings, 2.70 ERA.

Dan Haren is just what Cubs seek

He's not Cole Hamels or David Price, but ESPN's Tim Kurkjian still likes the reported move: "Dan Haren's had a good year, he's not going to cost too much and he can fit in the middle of that rotation."
