Blue Jays get on board, cut lead in half

A swinging bunt from Edwin Encarnacion went to Adrian Beltre's replacement (Beltre left with a back injury in the 3rd) Hanser Alberto. Alberto couldn't make the barehanded play and the Rangers' lead was cut to 2-1. Follow live

Jake Marisnick is playing CF and batting 9th for Astros in ALDS Game 1. Carlos Gomez is out with oblique injury. Manager A.J. Hinch says Gomez is available off the bench tonight and might start Game 2.

Beltre a big loss for Rangers

Adrian Beltre, who left the game in the 3rd inning with lower back stiffness, has 18 defensive runs saved, which was tied for first with Nolan Arenado for the most among third basemen. The Rangers lead the Blue Jays 2-0 in the Game 1 of the ALDS in the 4th inning. Follow live

If Adrian Beltre recovers well enough to DH but not play third in this series, I'd rather have him in the lineup than Prince Fielder.

Adrian Beltre singled in run but his back hurting him so much he hobbled to first and was crying when trainer later checked on him. He left game and is replaced by rookie Hanser Alberto.
