DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have placed infielder Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
The move is retroactive to March 30 and means there should be room for infielder Danny Worth on Detroit's Opening Day roster.
Inge has been trying to earn regular playing time again after hitting .197 in 2011. He's even attempting to move from third base to second after Detroit added Prince Fielder at first and moved slugger Miguel Cabrera to third.
Detroit opens the season at home on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox.
