Michael Bourn's hamstring flares up
CLEVELAND -- Indians center fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn left Cleveland's game against Chicago with left hamstring tightness.
Bourn bunted for a hit in the third inning Saturday, but appeared to slow down as he reached first base. He remained in the game, but was removed before the top of the fourth began. The Indians announced Bourn was removed for precautionary reasons and said he was day to day.
Bourn had surgery on the hamstring in October and reinjured it in spring training. He began the season on the disabled list and was activated on April 15. Bourn is hitting .266 with two stolen bases in 15 games.
The Indians signed Bourn to a four-year, $48 million contract before last season. He batted .263 with 23 stolen bases in 130 games.
The struggling Indians placed second baseman Jason Kipnis on the 15-day DL Friday because of a strained right oblique. He's expected to miss three to five weeks.
