Tampa Bay Rays slumping outfielder Wil Myers had his sprained wrist examined on Monday in hopes of pinning down a recovery timetable.

An MRI showed bruising and swelling, according to the Tampa Tribune, but doctors are still checking for the possibility of a small fracture. Myers could be out anywhere from two to six weeks, depending on the severity of the injury.

"It could be not so bad, it could be worse," manager Joe Maddon told reporters. "We just have to wait for the doctor to tell us."

Maddon says surgery has not been mentioned at all.

"I'm not hearing surgery," Maddon said. "I haven't heard that word at all. Just length of rehab seems to be the prominent concern or the discussion."

Myers, who was placed on the disabled list Sunday, suffered the injury Friday after colliding with center fielder Desmond Jennings on A.J. Pierzynski's walk-off triple in the 10th inning.

Myers, the American League Rookie of the Year in 2013, has struggled this season, batting .227 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in just 53 games.
