First baseman Brandon Belt, who hasn't played since suffering a fractured left thumb on May 9, was activated off the disabled list by the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Slotted second in the lineup against the San Diego Padres, Belt went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the Giants' 2-0 loss.

Belt, who had been on a rehab assignment, was leading the Giants with nine home runs when he suffered the injury after getting hit by Dodgers pitcher Paul Maholm. He had two pins surgically installed in his thumb.

He has a .256 batting average with 18 RBIs in 36 games this season.
