Nick Swisher to have knee checked
CLEVELAND -- Indians designated hitter Nick Swisher will get a second opinion on his sore right knee.
Swisher was examined by Indians team physician Richard Parker on Monday at the Cleveland Clinic. He will visit Neal S. Elattrache, the team physician for the Dodgers, on Tuesday. A determination on whether Swisher needs surgery could be made at that time.
He is on the 15-day disabled list for the second time this season because of pain in the knee. He missed two weeks because of the injury in June.
Swisher, 33, is batting .208 with eight homers and 42 RBIs in 97 games. He signed a four-year, $56 million contract prior to last season. He batted .246 with 22 homers and 63 RBIs in 2013.
