Major League Baseball has declared Cuban outfielder Lazaro Armenteros a free agent, according to multiple reports.
Armenteros, 16, established residency in Haiti in May and will be eligible to sign with a team on Feb. 10.
Nicknamed Lazarito, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound phenom held a showcase that drew 140 scouts last week in the Dominican Republic, according to MLB.com.
In 2014, Armenteros helped Cuba to an under-15 World Cup title. In nine games, he hit .462 with eight RBIs, three doubles, five triples and nine runs scored.
