NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball has hired Tyrone Brooks from the Pittsburgh Pirates as senior director of its new front office and field staff diversity pipeline program.
The program is designed to increase the pool of minority and female candidates for on-field and baseball operations positions.
Brooks, 42, had been Pittsburgh's director of player personnel. He will report to Chief Legal Officer Dan Halem.
Renee Tirado was hired by MLB as senior director of recruitment and will report to Steven Gonzalez, a senior vice president and deputy general counsel for labor and human resources. She spent the past three years as head of diversity and inclusion, Americas, for AIG.
The appointments were announced Wednesday.
