The team announced Monday that Francoeur has agreed to a minor league contract and will report to big league spring training.
A 32-year-old Atlanta native, Francouer started his career with the Braves in 2005. He made a splash as a rookie but failed to become the star many had projected. He was traded to the New York Mets in 2009 and bounced around five teams before returning to his original organization.
Francoeur spent the 2015 season with Philadelphia and hit .258 with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs in 119 games.
Atlanta will hold its first full-squad workout on Thursday.
